Hello!
Do you ever wonder if you’re really making progress with your English?
I’ve met many students who say that their English is still the same level it was a month or even a year ago.
Usually this isn’t true! It’s just very difficult to see your own progress, especially after the beginner stage.
So here are a few things for you to look for. If any of these things happen to you, it means you’re making progress!
You feel less nervous when you speak.
You start noticing and correcting your own mistakes.
Other people compliment you on your progress.
People ask you to repeat yourself less often.
You realise you understand more than you did before.
You start thinking in English.
You dream in English!
You realise you can say some sentences automatically without translating them first.
You feel less tired when using English than you used to.
You understand jokes in English.
You read or hear something and you don’t even notice at first that it’s in English.
You can switch in and out of English more quickly.
Check out my latest blog post on my main website if you’d like to learn more about how you can measure progress.
When you can see your progress, you feel more confident and more motivated to keep going. So make sure you look for the signs and celebrate your wins, big or small!
