Hello!

Here’s a lesson on the differences between say, tell, speak and talk! Let me know if it’s useful!

Say vs tell

Let’s start with the difference between "say" and "tell" because this is often the most common problem for English learners.

Exercise 1

Put "say" or "tell" into the sentences. Remember to think about the grammar and use the correct form as well.

  1. He ____ that he wanted to go home.

  2. He ____ me that he wanted to go home.

  3. You should always ____ the truth.

  4. Did you ____ sorry?

  5. He loves ____ jokes.
