Hello and welcome to “Learn English with Katie” on Substack!
1. “She Speaks English”
Is this you?
👉 You’re a professional woman who uses English at work.
👉 You’d like to feel more comfortable using English at work: talking to customers, writing emails, giving presentations or just making small talk in the office.
👉 You want to have conversations with colleagues and clients in English without feeling nervous or awkward all the time or worried about making mistakes.
👉 You wish you could join in the conversation and talk about a range of different topics with confidence.
👉 You’d like to feel confident enough with your English to be able to achieve your full potential in your career.
I’m looking for four more women to help me test my new “She Speaks English” programme.
This programme gives you:
💙 one-to-one support which is tailored to help you feel more confident in your current (or maybe even future) work situation
💙 strategies and techniques that enable you to work on your English independently
💙 the chance to take part in group chats and be part of a small supportive online community
My programme is currently at a hugely reduced price because it’s still new! If you’re thinking about it, please don’t wait too long because the price will go up for the next group.
I realise November isn’t the best time for a lot of people because life gets busy at the end of the year! But maybe you’re thinking about it for January. You can book now and start next year.
You can find out more here:
or send me an email and I’ll answer any questions you may have. And if you want to have a chat before you decide, just let me know.
2. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Do you feel tired after spending time with other people? Do you get your energy back by spending time alone? It sounds like you’re an introvert.
Or does spending time with other people give you energy? Do you prefer not to be alone too much? Then you’re an extrovert.
This isn’t the same as saying somebody is shy or confident. And it’s definitely not about whether you’re confident about your English. An extrovert can be confident in many things but shy about speaking English, for example.
I’m definitely an introvert! I’m happy spending time alone! I also like spending time with people I know in a one-to-one situation. I’m shy about meeting new people and I find large groups exhausting!
Extroverts are more likely to enjoy groups and parties. They like meeting people and they don’t mind being the centre of attention. They don’t like spending too much time alone.
And of course, some people are somewhere in between the two extremes.
So what does this have to do with learning English?
Well, I believe that introverts and extroverts might learn English in different ways. Each personality type has advantages and disadvantages when it comes to learning English.
But the good news is that both types of person can succeed!
If you’d like to learn more about this then check out my most recent blog post here:
3. Are you getting the right emails?
I send two emails every week (and occasionally more, like this week). You can choose one or get both!
Thursdays
My main newsletter is “Confident English for Professional Women”. This is where I write about learning English, confidence, mindset and women's issues.
So if you’re a working woman and you’re interested in this newsletter, you can find out more here.
If you’d like to read a couple of recent emails before you decide, you can do that here - “Why women?” - or here - “Do you have imposter syndrome?”.
